Why do trans people get so deeply offended when a stranger misgenders them, especially when it's a first encounter? I've been socially transitioned for 4 years and it just feels like a waste of energy to be so hurt by it.

I’m a transman with very long hair and no boobs any longer. I get misgendered all the time by my long hair and the fact that my roommate is with me almost all the time and he is a definite guy. You would think people would notice my lack of tits, especially during the hot weather but they don’t seem to. Just the long hair. Not my deep voice either. I wear a pin identifying my gender and try to leave it at that. I try to pass it off as stupidity on their part but sometimes it does bother me. When I tell them and it is obvious that I am a guy but they still don;t get it it angers me. So I then misgender them and it gets the point across, I don;t have the time to play gender teacher to these dweebs.
